Desiderio Alberto Arnaz y de Acha III, also known as Desi Arnaz, is a Cuban American actor, musician, conductor, comedian, film and television producer, a revolutionary to modern television. He was known for his witty role as Ricky Ricardo in the American television sitcom I Love Lucy, in which he co-starred with then-wife Lucille Ball. Arnaz and Ball are widely recognized as the creators of synthetic replays, which started with the I Love Lucy series. Arnaz and Lucille Ball co-founded and ran television production company Desilu Productions, originally to market I Love Lucy for television networks. After the end of I Love Lucy, Arnaz produced a number of other dramas, first with Desilu Productions and later on an independent, including The Ann Sothern Show and The Untouchables. He is also famous for leading his Latin group, the Desi Arnaz Orchestra.
